"How is your Funeral Etiquette?" | PORTRAIT 11 | OSIAN GRIFFORD

Osian Grifford's art holds up a prism of tragi-comic possibilities to the mundanity of our everyday lives.

A Sense of Society.

Neither Pilgrim’s Progress, nor Rake’s Progress - Welcome to Osian's World!

A Sense of Society is a series of large allegorical canvasses in which the artist’s friends are portrayed on an epic scale worthy of the heroism of everyday life.

A funeral,a graveyard, a kebab waggon, the bonnet of a Mercedes, a statue of Henry Richard in the public square, all provide a stage set for this motley crew of souls living it large.

About the artist

Allegedly born on 1 April, and hailing from not even a village in the Tregaron area - “it's not so much a place, as a state of mind”, Osian Grifford graduated from Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2015 with a First Class Degree in Illustration. Fortunately this experience did not deter him from producing art.

“But if we are a Comedy, we’re humble and fallible and ultimately pointless. This also has a potential for beauty”. (Osian Grifford).
